THERE will be free parking at Cirencester's Brewery Car Park every Sunday in December.

Motorists can always park for free at other Cotswold District Council (CDC) car parks in Cirencester on Sundays but the Brewery is usually the exception.

However, in an effort to encourage as many visitors to the town on Sundays during the festive shopping period, the Council has agreed to remove these charges for a few weeks.

The Brewery car park – and the nearby Forum car park - will also continue to offer ‘free after 3pm’ parking every day of the week.

CDC cabinet member for enterprise and partnerships, Cllr Chris Hancock, said: “Local retailers in Cirencester have told us that they would appreciate as much help as possible to boost trade in the town and attract as many shoppers as possible.

"Hopefully, removing the Sunday parking charges at the Brewery during December – together with the free parking on offer elsewhere - will encourage many traders to open for business on that day and create a real buzz around the town in the run-up to Christmas.”
