  • THE Friends of Oaksey School are holding a Christmas bazaar tomorrow from 5.30-7pm.
  • OAKSEY School is delighted to have achieved re-accreditation for the bronze level of the Healthy Schools Award. This year’s Christmas lunch and party will be held on Monday, December 12 and the children will be able to wear their party clothes to school but will still need sensible shoes and coats for wet playtimes.

  • GET into the Christmas spirit and enjoy a night or two in Kemble Village Hall. Tonight, the women’s section of the Kemble and District Royal British Legion host the annual festive whist drive. Expert and novice players very welcome, the more the merrier. Entrance just £2 to include a hot drink and biscuits. In-house raffle, lots of whist winners prizes too, doors open at 7pm for a prompt 7.30pm start. Tomorrow, Friday, Christmas Bingo when the doors will be open at 6.30pm for eyes down at 7pm. Fun for all the family and lots of chocolate to be won. Organised by Kemble Village Hall committee in aid of hall funds.
  • POOLE Keynes Friday film club presents tomorrow Love and Friendship. Mulled wine and Christmas nibbles will be served. Please ring Judith on 770301 as seating is limited. Please take along a cushion for added comfort, doors open at 7.30pm with the film showing at 8pm. 
  • POOLE Keynes residents have produced a calendar which can be purchased to support the village hall and church funds. Contact Liz 770698 or Margaret on 770889 who can held you with this. Jim Cunningham a very keen supporter of the poppy appeal raised £2,500 cycling the pedal to Paris event. He also continues to be a volunteer at Kemble Station for Remembrance-tide collecting. The monthly coffee morning held in village hall will be open this Wednesday between 10-11.30am. All welcome from the village and beyond just pop in. 
  • MARTIN’S final quiz held in Kemble village hall was a sell-out and raised £580 for hall funds. 
  • KEMBLE and District playgroup have been donated one cubic metre of barn seasoned logs by John Hiscock, Julius’s granddad and includes delivery to a local address.  To buy, this would cost £80. The playgroup are holding a silent auction for this so please send your bids in a sealed marked envelope by 9am Friday, December 9. All proceeds to playgroup. 
  • SUNDAY services will be: Kemble, Holy Communion and Sunday school at 9.30am, Messy Church at 3pm; Poole Keynes, family service at 11am; Somerford Keynes, morning prayer at 11am.
  • ON WEDNESDAY evening, volunteers will be on hand to support those suffering and those caring for sufferers who are coping with eating distress anorexia/bulimia. The facilitator will lead discussions about Coping at Christmas and also dealing with guilt and continuing recovery post the festive season. This is a free service. Doors open at St Peter’s Lounge, St Peter’s Court, Cirencester, GL7 1RZ for a 7.30pm start. Please ring Pat in confidence 01285 770385 for a friendly chat.
  • THE results of this November’s poppy appeal are in for Kemble and District and the total stands at £5,817.74 which will probably be added to as the appeal for 2016/17 period closes on September 30 next year. The total is broken down as thus: Somerford Keynes £858.15, Kemble with Kemble Wick £1232.31, Kemble station £829.41, Ewen £156.50, Oaksey £99.15, Poole Keynes £448.36, Coates £528.46, Rodmarton £164.15, Ashley £139.95, Tarlton £96.18, Cherington Lane Forge £196.69, Trull £76.10. Donations and wreaths etc £292.33 and poppy launch dance and supper profit £700. This collection is about on par with the total as per last year so the organiser is very pleased and thanks all those involved for their hard work.
