A BUSY route into Cirencester's Love Lane industrial estate will be resurfaced soon.

The work to lay 2021 square metres of new road surface on Wilkinson Road will take place from Monday, December 5 to Wednesday 7.

Due to the number of businesses operating along Wilkinson Road, the work will take place during the evening and night from 7pm to 7am and it will be necessary to close the road to traffic from the roundabout at Love Lane up to the end of the Wilkinson Road industrial area.

A signed diversion will be in place via Love Lane, Chesterton Lane, Somerford Road and back to Wilkinson Road, and vice versa.

Access will be kept open for pedestrians.

Cllr Vernon Smith, cabinet member for highways and flood said: “To minimise any disruption for local businesses we’re going to resurface Wilkinson Road at night times.

“We’ll be laying around 490 tonnes of asphalt to improve the overall surface of the road and I’d like to thank local people for their patience while we get the job done.”

Cllr Joe Harris, local county councillor for Cirencester Park said: “Wilkinson Road is the main route into the Love Lane industrial estate and many of the roads here are in need of attention.

"This resurfacing is great news and will be a welcome boost to residents and businesses and help support the local economy.”
