OUR front page story this week looks at how Baroness Scott is splitting her time between being a member of the House of Lords and the leader of Wiltshire Council.
It is a great achievement to have earned a place in the House of Lords, there is no doubt, and Wiltshire should be proud to have her there representing the county.
But the question has to be asked whether she can effectively split her time between the two huge roles.
When the issue was brought up, Baroness Scott explained the hours she puts into being a member of the Lords, returning home to Wiltshire as late as midnight on the days she is in London.
This should rightly be commended, but the council is a massive operation and many would argue that a full-time hand on the tiller is necessary.
