Crown Farm – Unreserved Dispersal Sale

ON WEDNESDAY, September 21, a huge gathering assembled at Crown Farm, Ascott under Wychwood, Oxfordshire to attend a farm dispersal auction.

This was conducted by Auctioneers Moore Allen & Innocent on behalf of Mr and Mrs Chris Badger following their decision to retire from farming and the equestrian business at Crown Farm.

Chris Badger’s Grandfather took on the tenancy of Crown Farm in 1934, and Chris joined his Father as a Tenant in 1972.

This genuine retirement sale was therefore very much the end of an era.

In recent years, Crown Farm has become famous in the equestrian world for its British Eventing approved cross country course, and the sale included not only the agricultural machinery and equipment, but also equestrian equipment including the cross country fences, show jumps, event and stable equipment as well as fodder, workshop and household items.

Potential bidders came from all over the country to attend the sale, many of them staying in the local inn.

Over 500 parties were registered to bid for over 600 lots.

Top price of the day was for the Claas Tucano 480 Combine Harvester which sold for £72,000. Amongst the other top prices was a MF 6480 4 wheel drive Tractor at £36,600 and a JCB 526 – 56 ’14 plate at £32,700.

While these items went under the hammer, the equestrian lots sold to a storming trade with fences such as The Castle selling for £940, the Pheasant Feeder at £920 and Badger at £640.
