  • THE Seven Tun has been hosting Strum for Fun evenings every 1st and 3rd Thursday of the month, with some Ukelele Band members. Anyone welcome to join in next Thursday, October 6 at 8pm.
  • CHEDWORTH Silver Band is practiscing for a concert at Bourton Legion hall on Saturday, October 22. The band provided music the Harvest Festival at Chedworth last Sunday. The band is currently seeking additional cornet players. For details please ring 01283 720313 or 01793 771667.
  • THE village hall has issued a reminder to hirers that they are responsible for leaving the Hall in the condition they found it. Swept, locked, the keys returned, their rubbish taken away and equipment put away safely. This has been prompted by a number of incidents of doors being left unlocked and equipment not put away safely.
  • THE Mobile Library makes its monthly visit to the village hall on Wednesday, October 5 from 10.15am - 12.15pm.

  • BBC3 is filming across Northleach this week at a variety of locations. This is the last week for the team who are filming a cutting edge comedy called This Country of Ours.  
  • THERE will be roadworks on the A40 between October 3-5 inclusive. The road section affected is the A40 from the Northleach roundabout towards the county boundary near Burford, a stretch of 11.5 kilometres. The work is to allow essential carriageway signing and marking works by Amey, on behalf of Gloucestershire County Council. There will be a 10mph speed limit and traffic will be controlled by lights. The lights will be in situ 24 hours a day but the work will take place during the day. Please allow plenty of time for your journey or avoid the area. 
  • NORTHLEACH Historical Society meets on Wednesday, October 5 at 7.30pm. This month they commemorate the centenary of the First World War with a talk on the Battle of Loos, in which tens of thousands of young British soldiers – many from the 10th Battalion of the Gloucestershire Regiment – died from either German machine gun fire or their own poison gas. Using first-hand accounts Nick Christian, whose great uncle died in the battle, reconstructs the story of the “10th Glosters” ordeal in the Great War. Cost £3.
  • THE mobile library will be in the Market Place on Wednesday, October 5 from 2.15-4.15pm. The van carries a good selection of adult and children’s books.
