  • TODAY, Thursday, September 29 from 10-11am will be your chance to drop in and have a chat with a local officer in one of the regular Tetbury open police meeting/surgery sessions at Tetbury Council Offices, The Old Courthouse, 63 Long Street. Dates for October are Wednesday, October 5 (9-10 am), Friday, October 14 (1-2pm), Monday, October 17 (10-11am) and Wednesday, October 26 (11am-12pm). Open to members of the public.
  • THURSDAY, September 29 sees the start of Tetbury music festival which will continue until Sunday, October 2. This year will include Schubert ensemble, Chiaroscuro Quartet, Steven Isserlis & Olli Mustonen and the Choir of the Age of Enlightenment.   • ON FRIDAY, September 30 there will be a coffee morning in the Market House from 10am-12pm in aid of the Macmillan Cancer biggest coffee morning initiative. All are welcome.
  • ON FRIDAY, September 30 there is another coffee morning to be held at Lewsey Court, at the McCarthy Stone site London Road from 11am-2pm also in aid of the MacMillan Cancer world’s biggest coffee morning initiative. All are welcome.
  • THIS Saturday morning, October 1, at 9.30am will be the gathering for the traditional beating the bounds under Bath Bridge. This is a fantastic way to tour the town boundaries. Free and open to all ages and families. The morning walk will conclude at Tetbury’s  Market House where there will be a presentation of the Feoffees  of Tetbury  accounts there will also be refreshments and a display of work from St Mary’s School.
  • SATURDAY, October 1 at 11am there will be a special concert in Tetbury at St Mary’s Church. This is the Parkhouse award concert  to celebrate the 25th anniversary of the Parkhouse award supporting young organ scholars. Listen to previous  Parkhouse organ scholars including Joseph Middleton, Jonathan Adkins, Charlotte Corderoy, Robin Baggs  and Adam Langston. Entry free. 
  • MONDAY, October 3 sees the  arrival of Pinders  Circus in Tetbury Recreation Ground. This is an all-new show (with no animals). Performance times will be Monday 6pm, Tuesday 4.30pm and 7pm and on Wednesday 4.30pm. For further information visit pinderscircus.co.uk  or call 07578 083755.
  • TUESDAY, October 4 is the neighbourhood coordination group (NCG) meeting at 7pm at the Tetbury Town Council offices, The Old Courthouse, 63 Long Street. Open to all. A chance to discuss and help set policing priorities in your area.

  • RESIDENTS of Tetbury have been advised by DEFRA to notify them if they  believe they have Asian Hornets and to email a photograph of the hornet to alertnonnative@ceh.ac.uk and details of their location. The Bee Inspectors have been very  active and visible in and around Tetbury setting Asian Hornet traps and have so far caught five or more Asian Hornets in Tetbury. Please be alert and take care as this hornet stings. They are usually identifiable by having bright yellow tips to their legs and the first segment of lower abdomen is yellow.

  • ON SUNDAY, October 2 Rodmarton Harvest Festival and lunch in the village hall afterwards – all welcome; all harvest produce go to Paternoster House, Cirencester, for the residents.
  • ROBERT Bryant LRPS, an award winning photographer will be giving a talk on “A Year-long walk in Woodchester Park, Gloucestershire” at the Gardening Club meeting starting at 7.30pm on Thursday. October 6 in Coates Village Hall.
  • THE Coates Quiz returns to the Coates Village Hall on Saturday, October 15, 7.30pm for 8pm. Join your friends and neighbours for what promises to be a fun evening with the chance to win a bottle of bubbly. £1 per person, teams of up to six people – tables are limited so reserve yours by emailing simon.johnson@tiscali.co.uk or by texting/calling 07821 903758.
  • A FUN evening will be held on Saturday, October 22 in Coates Village Hall (7-10.30pm). Coates Kitchen Autumn Taste ‘n’ Tell Challenge – to include a delicious two course supper.   • AFTER 15 years Roger Clarke has stepped down from serving as a Coates parish councillor.  His time serving the community has spanned two periods in office between 1991 - 1996 and 2005 - 2016. Roger can count many highlights from his time in office, not least his negotiations to secure for Coates what many believe to be the best road surfaces in Gloucestershire. Council chairman, Bob Allen presented Roger with a tankard engraved with the best wishes of the parish (see photo below right).
