AN OPTICIANS in Cirencester has raised more than £200 in support of the Royal National Institute of Blind People (RNIB) as part of National Eye Health Week.

Specsavers, in Cricklade Street, hosted a cake sale on Friday, September 23 and a fancy dress day on Saturday, September 24 raising a total of £206 which was donated to the RNIB.

As well as these fundraising activities, the store also offered specs MOTs, which included cleaning and adjustments, in return for a small donation from the public.

Stuart Anglin, Specsavers Cirencester store director, said: “It was lovely to see so many Cirencester locals make their way to the store to donate to the cause.

“It was a great weekend for everyone involved and we are delighted to have raised more than £200 for the RNIB.

“As well as fundraising for the RNIB, we are raising awareness of the importance of eye health.

“Half of all cases of sight loss could have been prevented and a simple eye test can be the first step in detecting and treating conditions before it is too late.

“We ask all our customers to pop in-store and have a sight test every two years.

“National Eye Health week was a great way to raise awareness and we hope we have played our part in educating others on the importance of eye health in Cirencester.”
