RESIDENTS in Cirencester are to benefit from improvements to the London Road roundabout - thanks to a partnership between David Wilson Homes and Cirencester Town Council.

The five-star housebuilder has donated funds towards giving the roundabout, close to its Pembroke Park development, a makeover.

Among the work that the donation will enable is strimming the overgrown grass, removing weeds and planting wildflowers, daffodils and spring crocus.

Cllr Stuart Tarr, town councillor for the Beeches Ward and chairman of the planning committee, said: “Local residents really are grateful to David Wilson Homes for contributing towards planting the London Road roundabout with spring bulbs, together with a wildflower meadow seeding mix in partnership with the Town Council,” said

“The roundabout has looked very tired this year, so hopefully the spring and summer of 2017 will produce a real splash of colour to match the wildflower meadow planting that we saw in previous years.

“The town council has plans to attract private sector sponsorship for the improvement and maintenance of the ‘Captial of the Cotswolds’ gateway roundabouts, including those on the ring road, so hopefully this early start on the London Road roundabout will contribute to the programme.

“It will also provide a well-maintained and colourful setting to the new David Wilson Homes Pembroke Park development that is being built, with the first new homes coming onto the market this autumn to complete the Kingshill North (Corinium Via) housing development.”

Louise Ware, sales director at David Wilson Homes, added: “These improvements fit well with our commitment to help create attractive new communities for all local people living in and around our developments.

“We’re delighted to be contributing to work that will construct a beautiful natural habitat for local people and wildlife to enjoy.”
