  • A FAMILY fun barn dance in being held on Saturday in the village hall; all ages welcome. Showtime Shane will entertain children from 5pm, followed by Hetty Peglar’s Tump band and dancing from 7pm, plus a raffle bar and barbecue. Tickets are £10 in advance or £15 on door (children go free) available from The Wheatsheaf, Oaksey shop, or from Jo Brackley via Joanna.brackley@btinternet.com. All money raised will be going to the Oaksey Playground Group to purchase new play equipment.
  • CHOIR members are needed for the Oaksey Church carol service on December 17. This will not entail a huge commitment, just two or three rehearsals beforehand.   • THE Oaksey Playground Group is auctioning two tickets, one adult’s and one child’s, for a once-in-a-lifetime trip on The Flying Scotsman.   • ON TUESDAY the children from Oaksey School’s Reception class and Years 1, 2 and 3 are visiting Roves Farm as part of the Food to Farming week.

  • KEMBLE Circuits a new exercise class commences in Kemble village hall today Thursday from 9-10am. If you have missed it you can ring Dan on 01285 851148 to join in next time. 
  • THIS Saturday a community fair will be held in Kemble Village Hall from 10am-1pm. Community groups can take a free stall to help with fundraising or publicising their groups or businesses can have a stall for £15 per table. Contact Danielle on cotswoldcreatives1@gmail.com to book. 
  • IN KEMBLE Church on Saturday from 10.30am you can go along and listen to Robin Bigwood, a professional musician specialising in playing and teaching harpsichord and other early keyboards. Retiring collection in aid of ‘Mindsong’, a Gloucestershire-based charity taking music to dementia patients in care homes and day centres. Tony Ferris can provide more information on 770756. 
  • SUNDAY services Morning Prayer will be held in Kemble at 9.30am, during this service Cadie and Matt Aspray will report and give an update on their charity ‘Open Doors’ that the church supports. Holy Communion in Poole Keynes at 9.30am and in Somerford Keynes at 11am.
  • ON WEDNESDAY, the Kemble school head teacher Carol Dougill reports that the staff and parents of children who were involved in the project have invitations for the exhibition Wildlife Wonder Gloucestershire Exhibition and Eco Summit but says that the exhibition which includes photos the school children have done will be open for others to view at the Museum in The Park, Stroud on Thursday, September 29, September from 11am-5pm. Admission is free. 
  • CONTACT sisters Emily or Sarah Lawlor who both live in Kemble if you are interested in a creativity and wellbeing course at the Bothy in Cirencester. The course which is running at Vanessa Arbuthnott’s exciting new creative space at 12 Ashcroft Road. The sessions started on September 14 and will run for eight weeks. The cost of course is £22 for each two-and-half-hours including all materials, hot/cold drinks and cake. Some sessions may be available for concessions at a reduced cost. The course is designed for anybody who wants to develop their creativity in a relaxing and sociable environment. It aims to provide an opportunity for participants to take time out of their normal routines to be creative together, have fun and feel uplifted.
