THIS year’s annual summer fete at a care home in Bourton-on-the-Water raised more than £700 for the residents' amenities fund.

The proceeds of Jubilee Lodge care home's summer bash, held on August 6, will form the foundation for a newly launched fund for an on site wheelchair-accessible greenhouse.

Angela Alder, general manager, said: “The project is expected to cost about £5,000 and we hope to raise the cash by the end of the year so that we can use the greenhouse next spring."

In brilliant sunshine, the fete was well supported and attracted friends, villagers and residents’ relatives.

“We had lots of fun and laughter, it was an enjoyable afternoon,” added Angela.

Activities on the day included a fun dog show, children’s races, numerous stalls, arts and crafts, shed art, a fancy dress competition and a display of Scottish dancing.

The Meadow Way-based care home regularly hosts fund-raisers, with community quizzes planned for August 26 and October 14, a cheese and wine party on September 24 and a Christmas fair on December 3.

Jubilee Lodge, run the Orders of St John Care Trust, is a 74-bed nursing home for people with dementia and physical disabilities.
