A LOCAL councillor tweeted about the disappointment of residents in Perrott's Brook as two potholes marked for fixing were still unrepaired two months later.

Councillor Paul Hodgkinson today tweeted a photo saying: "Here are #potholes marked for fixing two months ago in Perrott's Brook yet still nothing done! @GlosRoads #Cotswolds"

According to Cllr Hodgkinson, the potholes, near the A435, had been in a poor state for six months.

He said: "Everyone was pleased when they saw someone come and mark the potholes with white paint, which means work is due to happen.

"But it's two months later, and still, nothing has happened. People have asked me about it.

"Now, the markings are starting to fade anyway. If we are not careful, the markings could go altogether.

"People get frustrated when they see potholes marked and it takes a long time for them to be sorted out.

"The time it takes for potholes to be repaired usually depends on where they are and how bad they are.

"I don't know where these potholes fit but it strikes me that it has been two months and they have been there for a lot longer anyway.

"This is a widespread and an ongoing problem. People reading the story will be nodding their heads and saying, 'yes, it happens here too.'

"There should be some follow-through from the council rather than it being down to the councillor to be pushing and following on with action."

Since the publication of this article, a spokesperson for Amey, Gloucestershire County Council's highways contractor, responded on August 2: "Having looked into this, we can advise that the marked sections are utilised to help identify areas that need patching works to be completed.

"These are categorised as “non-safety defects” with a deadline completion of six months.

"A ticket has been raised for work to be completed. We are hoping to be on site mid-to-late August to carry out the work."
