GLOUCESTERSHIRE Wildlife Trust will be launching the new Cafe and Education Centre at Crickley Hill.

The centre at Crickley Hill, Gloucester will coincide with the first Crickley Hill Summer Fun Day.

Work started on the new Cafe and Education Centre shortly after the trust took over the management of Crickley Hill from Gloucester County Council in April 2016.

The building will be officially reopened on Wednesday, August 3.

The refurbishment has been made possible through the generous support of Grundon Waste management.

Andrew Short, estates manager at Grundon Waste Management, said: “Crickley Hill is a fantastic public asset and we felt that Gloucestershire Wildlife Trust deserved our wholehearted support to invest and improve the cafe and education centre to benefit the wider community."

The café will be open daily from 8am to 6pm. It will be serving salads, fresh baguettes, toasted sandwiches, a range of delicious cakes and ice cream, and a range of drinks, including barista coffee.

The Education Centre will be available to schools and youth groups. For information, contact Gareth Parry on 01452 383333.

The Summer Fun day on Wednesday, August 3 will start at 11am. All families are welcome and should come prepared to be an eco-warrior for the day.

There will be a quiz trail where families can learn about how our waste affects the environment, temporary tattoos, badge making, wildflower pots, and more.

The highlight of the day will be a model-making competition, Making Wildlife from Waste. Take along egg boxes and yoghurt pots, and anything else needed, to make bugs and creepy crawlies.

Gloucestershire Wildlife Trust staff and volunteers will be on hand to help, and there will be prizes for the best entries.

Entry to Crickley Hill Country Park and the Summer Fun Day event is free, but there will be a small charge for some of the activities.
