DUE to waning support, this year’s Cricklade Show will only consist of a horse show.

The long standing annual August Bank Holiday event has been restructured due to the general show receiving very little support in 2014.

There have been declining numbers over a period of time since the show’s heyday when it also included livestock classes.

Speaking on behalf of the Cricklade Horse Show Committee, Hazel Woodbridge said: “This year we have decided to run it as a horse show only, but with a very much simpler schedule.

“Many people asked for a more local, family orientated horse show.”

Schedules for the show are now available, but the committee are appealing for volunteers to help make it all possible.

“There are a whole variety of ways that people can help,” said Hazel.

“From helping in the secretary's tent on the day to helping put up and take down rings before and after the show, directing parking and stewarding in the rings.

“In the show jumping rings we need help in building the course before the show and then replacing jump poles that are knocked down on the day.

“Many of these require no previous knowledge just some enthusiasm.”

Usually the West Swindon Air Cadets have helped with the show, however this year the dates clashed with a charity ‘plane pull’ they are taking part in.
