  • THURSDAY, July 21 will be your chance to drop in and meet a local officer at the police meeting/surgery at Tetbury Town Council Office, The Old Courthouse, 63 Long Street from 2pm to 3pm. The next one will be on Tuesday, July 26th from 11am to noon- 12pm.
  • AS PART of the summer reading challenge at Tetbury library from Saturday, July 23-29, which has a Roald Dahl theme, you will be able to drop in and design a Ronald Dahl ‘wanted’ poster, and make a clay golden ticket. On Tuesday, July 26 at 10.30am the Dogs Trust will be visiting to share fun and informative stories about caring for our canine companions. 
  • ON MONDAY, July 25 there is a chance to meet your village agent, Aileen Bendall, at the council offices, The old courthouse, 63 Long Street from 10.30am-12.30pm. A chance to find out more about the role of the village agent and get advice or help on many different aspects of life for the over 50s.
  • THE next Tetbury and district footpath group meeting/walk is on Tuesday, July 26. Meet at Tetbury free long stay car park by the Tetbury Good Shed, just off Cirencester road at 2pm.   • MEET the mayor of Tetbury, Councillor Stephen Hirst, on Friday, July 29 under the Market House from 10am to noon-12pm. Tea, coffee and cake available. 
  • TETBURY In Bloom are pleased to announce the ever popular open gardens day on Sunday, July 31 from 2pm to 6pm. £5 pera person (children under 16 free) will gain you entry to nine local unique and private gardens. Two in West Street, two in Court Field, one in Northfields Road, one in Cirencester road, one in Springfield’s and one in the old Rope walk and Five Trees Close communal garden. Pick up tickets, maps and refreshments from the start point at the Market House.   • THE Tetbury Summer and Flower Show will be on Sunday, August 14 and looks to be bigger and better than ever. Pick up an entry form and schedule of events from Tetbury Hardware, 30a London Road ,Tetbury. All completed entry forms should be returned to Tetbury hardware by noon12pm on Thursday, August 11. This year there will be new categories as well as the old established and very popular favourites, so for further information visit tetburysummershow.co.uk. There will also be a dog show and various family events. If there are any more local producers or anyone interested in having a stall then please ring Ken on 01666 504198. After the success of the parade last year which set off from the marketplace down to the recreation ground, this will be repeated again this year as reminder of the golden days of Tetbury Carnival.

  • ON SUNDAY, July 24 Holy Communion Services will be held in Tarlton at 8am and in Coates at 9.30am. Rodmarton will be holding Mattins at 11am.
  • THE RAU Beagles are holding an open day from 1pm on Sunday, July 31 at the Kennels in Coates. Learn how to show hounds and join in a beagles walkout around 3pm. All ages are welcome. BBQ, bar and face painting and puppy cuddles available. 
  • THE mobile library will be visiting Coates between 11.55am and -12.55pm on Tuesday, August 2.
  • THE police are holding an open meeting at South Cerney village hall at 7.30pm on Tuesday, August 2. All are welcome to go along and raise anything about community policing to discuss with the local police officer.

  • THE John Rattlebone Millennium Boules competition was won by The Beaufort Bunch, consisting of David Mancktelow, Michael Sillars-Warner and Fred Willis. Runners-up were Bob Rumble, James Pyle, Alyson Brown and Charlie Brown in team Boule-Ox.
  • THIS year’s Christian Aid collection, in the eight parishes of the Gauzebrook Group, raised £3,425.86.
  • A COFFEE morning and open house and garden take place on Wednesday, 10am-12.30pm at Well Cottage, 6 Cliff Road, Sherston, in aid of Send a Cow charity. The event is being organised by Tricia Lawrence, who recently moved to Sherston and has been a volunteer ambassador for the charity for 12 years. She will be representing the charity in the Cotswold/Wiltshire area in the future.   • FUN in the Sun returns to Sherston next week. The free multi-sports sessions are for children age five to 11 and take place on Wednesday, July 27 and Wednesday, August 3, 10 and 17, from 10am to -11.30am at the recreation ground and Scout Hut. Activities include athletics, dodge ball, football, hockey, rounders, cricket and basketball.   • BECKY Fisher will be leading Gauzebrook Holiday Club on July 25 to 29, from 10am to midday in Sherston School. There will be games, craft, songs, a story and lots of fun. Pre-booking is essential; contact Becky on becky.fisher@deanery.org.uk.
  • THE open day and lunch at Barton House, home of Phyl Thorburn, raised £900 for the Macmillan nurses at the Breast Cancer Unit at the Royal United Hospital in Bath.
  • GREAT fun was had by all on June 12’s Olympic day, with thanks to all of those who supported the event, and £930 was raised for Sherston School.
  • SHERSTON POP weekend raised a huge £5,500; The Friends of Sherston School will receive just over £5,000 from the POP fund and Sherston Toddlers will receive £500.
