  • THE Submission Draft of the Cotswold District Council Local Plan 2011-2031 is now available to view and comment on at cotswold.gov.uk or in hard copy at the CDC offices in Trinity Road, Cirencester, until Monday, August 8.
  • IF ANY residents require further Air Tattoo car stickers for the July 8-10 event, or for some reason have not received their allocation of two, these will be available today, Thursday, June 30, between 7-8pm in the Kempsford Village Hall car park.
  • RESIDENTS are reminded about the one-way system applying on the Whelford Road during the Royal International Air Tattoo from about 6am until roughly 3pm on July 9 and 10. Full details are in the Parish Magazine and online through the publications page at kempsfordparishcouncil.net.
  • VOLUNTEERS are required to help the Whelford Village Hall Trust run the Breakfast Cafe at Wayside Poultry Farm on July 8-10 to cater for visitors to RIAT. Also the Whelford Social Club will be open from 8pm-12am on Thursday, July 7 and on Friday, July 8 and Saturday, July 9 from the afternoon until 12am. In addition there will be live music on Saturday evening.
  • SUNDAY services for Sunday, July 3 are Holy Communion at Whelford led by Rev Curwen Rawlinson at 9am and also at Kempsford at 10am led by Rev Lynn Hayler.
  • ON SUNDAY, July 10 there will be a 9am service in the marquee at The George led by Rob Mitchell which will be followed by coffee and bacon butties.

  • THE monthly Contact Group will meet at 12.30-2.30pm on Friday, July 1 in Fairford United Church, Milton Street. You will be able to meet friends old and new over tea/coffee and light refreshments.

  • FAIRFORD Art Society’s next meeting is the AGM on Saturday, July 2 starting at 7.30pm at Fairford Community Centre. Membership fees are due. New members welcome.   • THERE will be a special service on Sunday, July 3 at 10am at St Mary’s Church and afterwards at Fairford War Memorial to commemorate the Battle of the Somme and Jutland. There will be an exhortation and silence, during which the laying of the wreaths for the three (one at Jutland) who died will be laid by members of the Committee of the Royal British Legion.
  • JAM, Jesus and Me, Club is on Sunday, July 3 at 10am in St Mary’s Church, Fairford. Stories, craft and fun. 
  • FAIRFORD University of the Third Age (U3A) will meet at 2.30pm on Tuesday, July 5 in the Palmer Hall. Mel Rees – My Family and Other Setbacks. This well-received and published author gives us a humourous view of the virtues of marriage and children who won’t leave home.
  • THE Knit & Knatter Group will meet on Tuesday, July 5 between 2.30-4.30pm in Fairford Library. A free group for people of all ages and abilities, who want to do some knitting or crocheting and have a chat with old and new friends. Tea and coffee, children welcome. Just turn up or phone Ann on 01285 712560. 
  • THE next Fairford WI meeting is on Wednesday, July 6 at 12.30pm in Fairford Community Centre.  This is lunch with “Speed Meeting.” For more information, contact Jean on 01285 713308.
  • AT THEIR next meeting on Wednesday, July 6, Fairford WI is launching “Back to Basics,” which is a series of practical sessions to learn traditional WI skills aimed at WI members and non-members. Many new members to the WI realised that they did not have many of the skills that other older members had mastered years ago. Now the “skilled” members are going to teach the newer less skilled members on things like sewing, cake-making, jam-making and more. This month the skill is jam-making. Meeting starts at 7.30pm in the Palmer Hall. Visitors welcome, contact Jean Moulden on 01285 713308 for details.
  • THE first of two public drop-in events to assist with Cotswold District Council’s Local Plan consultation process is in Moreton-in-Marsh on Wednesday, July 6. The second, which is nearer for Fairford residents, is on Thursday, July 7 from 2-6.30pm at the Committee Rooms, Council Offices, Trinity Road, Cirencester. If you cannot attend, the Submission Draft Local Plan is available for viewing on CDC’s website consult.cotswold.gov.uk. The consultation will run until Monday, August 8.
  • MINI Praise is at St Mary’s Church, Fairford on Thursday, July 7 at 1.45pm for pre-schoolers and their carers. This is a lovely little free session with stories, songs, crafts, and snacks.
