  • THE consultation on the submission draft of Cotswold District’s Local Plan 2011-2031 has opened. To view the document online and comment please visit cotswold.gov.uk or hard copies can be viewed at Cotswold District Council’s offices in Cirencester or at local libraries. In addition there are two public “drop-in” events. The first is at Moreton Area Centre on Wednesday, July 6 from 2pm to 6.30pm and the second at the council offices, Cirencester, on Thursday, July 7 from 2pm to 6.30pm.
  • ANDY Lewis, of the North Cotswolds Ornithological Society, presents “Birds of the Cotswolds” a talk on the varied birds of the Cotswolds. Admission is £5 including refreshments. The talk takes place on July 21, 2.30pm to 3.30pm, at The Courtroom at the Old Prison. 
  • MF FREEMAN Ltd would like to invite the residents of Northleach to our “drop-in” public consultation event to seek their views on the proposed development at Bassett Road, Northleach. The event will be held between 5pm and 8pm on Thursday, July 7 at the Westwood Centre, Bassett Road, Northleach.

  • OUR neighbours in Withington have open gardens and a plant sale this weekend.
  • THE Chedworth Society have their Summer Garden Party from 3pm to 6pm this Saturday, July 2 at the Musgrave’s house. Pimms will be served and catering is by Claire Booth. Contact Dave Whittles to book your tickets, or online. This is part of a strategy to rejuvenate the society under the chairmanship of Martin Harrison who was elected recently and return it to being a respected body that influences change in the village. The society is now monitoring planning applications and will be forwarding their views to Cotswold District Council and Chedworth Parish Council.
  • NOTICES giving residents the opportunity to hold an election for a parish councillor following the recent resignation of Adrian Bell should appear on noticeboards shortly. They were expected to be posted last week shortly after the district council was informed.
  • CHEDWORTH Parish Council is seeking a football team to make use of its playing field near the village hall following Chedworth Cavaliers' decision to move from Chedworth for the 2016/17 season. Please contact the clerk on 01285 720313 for details. 
  • CHEDWORTH Silver Band will be playing at the village fete at Taynton near Burford this Saturday, July 2. The band will be playing from 2.30 pm.
  • PLANS are in motion for the new revamped Chedworth Show on August Bank Holiday Saturday. One idea is to abolish the entry charge and for the parish council to pay £500 to offset this loss. Organisers are seeking further volunteers. See the village newsletter for more details.
