  • OAKSEY WI is holding a cake stall at the village fete on Saturday.
  • OAKSEY fete takes place on Saturday on the playing fields, with cake, bottle, bric-a-brac, and plant and produce stalls, plus a tombola and much, much more.
  • OAKSEY team took part in the Crudwell bike ride, riding 27 laps which are equivalent to 189 miles, and raised £262.50 to be split between Oaksey School and Crudwell Village Hall Fundraising Committee. 
  • OAKSEY School’s reception class is asking for permanent donations of children’s folding camping chairs and girls’ sun hats –  Mrs Troughton is planning a camping-themed role play day.

  • PLEASE set your alarm so you can attend a short service at Kemble war memorial at 7.30am tomorrow, Friday, July 1, when a whistle will be blown three times; the same as happened at the Battle of the Somme hundred years ago as a signal to the troops to go ‘over the top’. By the end of this day, July 1 1916, 19,240 British soldiers had been killed. Rev David Austin will lead prayers and a wreath will be laid. Somerford Keynes, Coates and Oaksey villages are marking this time as well. 
  • THIS Saturday, all are welcome to Poole Keynes village fete located in the field adjoining Poole Keynes village hall from 12.30-4pm. There will be burgers/cream teas, cakes/books, falconry display/classic cars/bouncy castle. 
  • SUNDAY services will be held in Kemble at 9.30am with Holy Communion and Sunday School and at 11am in Poole Keynes - Family Service and in Somerford Keynes – Morning Prayer. 
  • THE kettles will be on Monday in Kemble Village Hall and on Wednesday in Poole Keynes Village Hall for the community coffee mornings/get togethers from 10-11.30am. All welcome from the villages and beyond. 
  • MEN’S supper/drinks eve first Monday of the month and is open to any man. Join David and Jonathan at the Tavern Kemble. Get off the 18.47 from London and call in for a pint. 
  • THE mobile library will be on its usual route and stop points on Tuesday in Kemble outside the village hall in the morning and at the end of Mill Lane on Wednesday in Somerford Keynes in the morning.
  • THE local volunteers who run the Cirencester Eating Disorder self help group will be on hand to support those who are suffering with eating distress and their carers and interested parties at St. Peters lounge St Peters Court, Cirencester on Wednesday evening from 7.30pm. Further details from Pat in confidence on 01285 770385.
