LIVE music and family fun rocked St Michael’s Park on Saturday as this year’s Fringe Family Day came to town.

Following on from last year’s huge debut success, the Cirencester event returned once more to raise money for the upcoming Phoenix Festival to be held in The Abbey Grounds in August, by bringing together local businesses, families and music.

As well as live performances there was also a variety of sponsored stalls and children’s entertainment, including fairground planes, pony rides, a bouncy castle and face painting, while animals from nearby Butts Farm were available for petting.

The full list of performers was The Cirencester Kingshill School ukulele band, Rob Grace, Radio Silence, DJ Natty, Ells and the Southern Wild, Cirencester Creative Dance Academy, Two Lost Souls, Dan Biling and Plucking Different.

Kelly Keen, Fringe event co-ordinator, said: “The Cirencester Fringe Family Day not only raised money and awareness of the Phoenix Festival but it brought together the community in the beautiful settings of St Michael’s Park.

“There was a huge variety of things for people of all ages and even though the rain tried to chase everyone away we still continued on and the day was a success.

“Some local businesses supported the day either by sponsoring financially, donating a raffle prize, providing equipment to use or providing the advertising.

“We had some amazing local bands provide entertainment for the crowd, giving the day a real festival feel. A huge thank you to them for providing their time for free.

“Finally, without the help and support of the Phoenix volunteers and everyone else, this day would not have happened.”

She said she would like to thank Wenn & Townsend Chartered Accountants, Williamson and Ford electricians, Swift Print, Wickes, Ermin Plant Hire, CIA fire and security, Corinium Safety Solutions, Travis Perkins, Henry Cole & Co, Everlasting Impressions Body Piercing Studio, the Foodworks Cookery School in Colesbourne, and over 15 local business who donated a raffle prize.

“We will definitely do it again next year,” added Kelly.

Phoenix Festival will be held on August 27 and 28.
