THE biggest ever community fair in Malmesbury is taking place next month.

The Big Get Together will welcome more than 60 local charities, clubs and organisations to the showcase what they have to offer residents.

Stalls will be laid out in The Activity Zone Leisure Centre in Malmesbury from 5-7pm on Wednesday, July 6 for residents to browse, with members of each group on hand to give more information if required.

A packed list of stall-holders will showcase Malmesbury groups such as the Civic Trust, Scouts, Writers Group, Luncheon Club and Bridge Club.

A variety of charity stalls are also being hosted, offering residents an opportunity to see the work they do in north Wiltshire. These will include HEALS of Malmesbury, Jole Rider and Julia’s House, among others.

Ollie Phipps, Wiltshire Council’s community engagement manager for Malmesbury and surrounding areas, is organising the Big Get Together.

“These kind of events are really important to showcase what is on offer in the local area for residents, being run by the community,” he said.

“There is such a diverse range of activities and opportunities for all ages of the community to get involved with.

“Promoting all there is to be involved in and keeping people more active both physically and mentally for longer, improves their quality of life, and addresses social isolation.

“Our aim is to raise the profile of all the local groups and clubs running such great activities, increase membership and promote opportunities for people to volunteer at some of these great causes.”
