AN award-winning microbrewery has moved from a converted garage-come-brew house to a new premises in Cirencester Park to allow the business to continue growing.

Corinium Ales’ new home at The Old Kennels was officially opened on Saturday (June 18) by co-owners and brewers Lucy Cordrey and Colin Knight, with the pair having established the company in 2012.

Lucy said: “We have been searching for premises for a while but there has not been anything we could afford that was close enough to town, suitable to house our small set up and reflect the strong historic character of our business brand and beers.

“So we were really pleased when The Bathurst Estate contacted us about Unit 1a at The Old Kennels.

“It’s a major step for us and we are very excited about the future,” she added.

Planning permission for change of use had to be sought for the unit which is grade II listed as part of a range of buildings and located just within the grade I historic Cirencester Park.

It is one of a group of buildings used by local businesses, including office, retail and stables.

Colin said: “We really appreciate the historic nature and character of the site and will strive to make sure our operations are managed sensitively and carefully.

“Also, by being here we can be a little more accessible to our customers and supporters, as well as reclaiming some of our personal space back at home.”

The new brewery premises, fondly referred to as ‘the doghouse’, will officially be open on Friday afternoons for off-licence sales and there are plans for pre-booked mini tours and tastings later in the year.
