THERE will be a free family event at the Gloucestershire Wildlife Trust site of Greystones Farm in Bourton-on-the-Water.

The event, called 'Love Your Landscape', takes place this weekend, Saturday, June 25, from 12pm to 4pm.

It aims to get local people to engage with all the different layers of the Greystones landscape's story, from the prehistoric age, to the Iron Age town that lies under it, to today's modern farming.

Families can make their own Iron Age pots, build mini roundhouses, try soil coring, see the robot milking machine used on the modern dairy herd, have a go whittling tools, try Iron Age cooking, try wildlife face-painting and more.

The event is part of a research project between the wildlife trust and Durham University to find out what is important about the landscapes where local residents live.

Farmers, local residents, archaeologists, business people and school children have been interviewed to better understand Greystones Farm and Bourton-on-the-Water.

Both places have had late Iron Age towns beneath them but are landscapes today where people live and use the land.
