AN animal rescue centre has issued a call for help after nearly 200 animals were brought in just a few days.
Every year, Oak and Furrows Wildlife Centre looks after 3,000 needy animals from its base near Cricklade, but they are now struggling to cope with demand after an influx of injured critters.
“It is a massive call for help and we really would ask the public to help us financially if they can,” said charity chairman Robin Thompson.
Chrissy Ball, head of administration and fundraising, added: “The little birds need particular care. They are cleaned and fed hourly, which means one carer staring at the first incubator, feeding the wildlife, many of them babies, then starting back at the beginning and doing it all over again. It is awesome to see the efforts of my colleagues, some of who are volunteers.”
