TRIBUTES are being paid to a 14-year-old boy after news broke of his death following a crash in Berkeley on Friday (May 20).

The teenager, from Berkeley, has been named locally as Louis Eldridge.

He had been airlifted to Southmead Hospital after the bike he was riding was in collision with a car last night and was in a critical condition but police said he died this afternoon.

Mike and Kate Eldridge, parents of Louis, released a statement just after 9pm this evening.

They said: "Our beautiful son Louis sadly passed away at 1.30pm on May 21, 2016. He was very much loved and cherished by his mum and dad, Mike and Kate, and all his family and friends.

"We would like to thank you for your kind words and prayers."

On Facebook, Charlie Cole wrote: “Gunna miss you so much brother. Can’t believe you have gone. RIP my man”

Rosie Holloway posted: "RIP Louis you’re dearly missed man, fly high up there we’re all looking up to you, heart goes out to his family and friends, so sad to see you go so young”

He is understood to have been a Rednock School pupil.

The collision, which happened at 7.35pm on Station Road under the railway bridge in Wanswell, was with a Volkswagen Polo.

No-one else was injured.

The road was closed while a collision investigation took place and re-opened just after 12.30am on Saturday (May 21).
