  • CHEDWORTH Silver Band is playing at a concert with Pear Tree Peallers at Purton Village Hall this Saturday, May 7 at 7.30 pm. Tickets £6 to include a glass of wine are available from Brian 01793 771667, or pay at the door. The concert is sponsored by Hills Group, Swindon, with raffle prizes from Waitrose and Dyson. Proceeds to Purton Age concern and the Prospect Hospice.
  • GUITING Music Festival’s second outreach concert at Chedworth last week featured the Behn String Quartet who performed to a modest audience of around 50 people few of whom came from Chedworth Guiting Festival support a wide range of music at Guiting Power, see guitingfestival for more details.
  • THE Parish Council meets in the Games Room at the village hall at 7.30 pm this Monday evening, May 8.
  • THERE is a Rogation service at Ballingers Farm on Fields Road not far from Chedworth village hall at 10.30am this Sunday, May 8. 
  • TICKETS are available for the Chedworth Singers A Musical Journey annual concert at Chedworth village hall on Saturday, May 14. Tickets £10, under 16s £5, available from Neil Irving 01285 720403 or from Chedworth Singers members.
  • GIGACLEAR the ultrafast fibre Broadband provider has an open day at Chedworth village hall this Saturday, May 7 at which residents will be able to experience the speed of the Gigaclear network on their own devices, tablets, laptops etc. The open day is from 10am to 4pm and is being provided by the village hall as part of a deal under which Gigaclear provide the hall with 18 months of 50Gb/sec service free.
  • THE Gardens at Stowell Park are open with a plant sale from 2pm to 5pm this Sunday, May 8. Entry £6 children under 12 Free. Proceeds to the NGS and Yanworth and Stowell churches.

  • A NEW class aimed at those who are less active and need help with balance or have medical conditions that need gentle exercise, takes place every Tuesday. Denise Nethercott leads the class entitled ‘Fit for Life’ every Tuesday at 3pm for an hour at The Westwoods Centre. The cost is £5 per class. The class can be taken either sitting or standing, whichever is most convenient. Northleach Town Council are introducing the class following support from Gloucestershire County Council.
  • THE Cotswold Canals Trust campaign for the restoration of the Stroudwater Navigation and Thames & Severn Canal. This talk at the Old Prison on Thursday, May 12 from 2.30pm to 3.30 pm will take you from the history of the canals through to future plans for these historic waterways. Entry is £5 including refreshments. 
  • THE Northleach Charter Fair and Music Festival is on Saturday, June 25 from 11am to 11 pm on the King George V Playing Field. The Charter Fair, consisting of stalls and a variety of entertainments will run from 11 am to 5 pm and the Music Festival will commence at 4.30 pm and close at 11 pm. Free Admission.
