  • TODAY, fifth of May is Ascension day and there will be a benefice communion service in Tetbury St Mary's church at 7 PM.
  • LAST week Tetbury's own Eileen Hodgsons successfully completed the London Marathon in an amazing four hours 31 minutes in which she raised a staggering total of £2,500 for Christian aid. Thanks must go to Eileen and to the many people who sponsored and supported this.
  • TETBURY is still stunned and in disbelief after the fatality of the accident which happened at the bottom of the town on the London Road, Hampton Street crossing. The accident happened at 10.35 am the air ambulance attended but unfortunately the 91-year-old passed away at the scene. Police would like to speak to any motorists who were in the vicinity or in front of the heavy goods vehicle tractor unit, that was involved, if you have any information or were a witness them please ring 101 incident 127 of 29 April. There have been many tributes already including flowers on the railings at the bottom of Hampton Street from various friends, including his friends and residents of Combe house. Local artist Barry Barnes, who knew Tim Adkin, who was visibly shocked by this news. He said he was a real gentleman and a real Tetbury character.
  • THERE are no committee meetings for Tetbury Town Council during the month of May apart from the annual council meeting which will take place on Monday, May 16 at 7 pm and as always this will take place at the council chambers, The old Courthouse, 63 Long Street. Members of the public are welcome to attend.
  • THE next Tetbury and district footpath group meeting/walk is on May 10. Meeting at the free Tetbury Station/good shed free car park at 2pm. Cars will be needed for this walk as it will be taking place from Sherston to Luckington along the river valley to Brookhill. This will be a 3.5m 5.5km. Level  A/B.   • TETBURY Art  Society were delighted at the success and attendance of the spring exhibition. Chairman, Michael Kingham wishes to thank everyone who has attended and took part in the raffle and bought some paintings. The Society meet on the first Wednesday evening of  most months at St Michaels Hall Street  at 7.30 pm. New members always welcome.
  • IT IS Christian Aid  week from May 15-21. Tetbury Christ Church’s minister Rev Stuart Radford will be  walking from Nailsworth to Tetbury to raise money for this much needed  charity. You are invited for coffee from 10am to noon at Christ Church, Nailsworth  or to tea at Christ Church Tetbury. Or make a day of it and come to both and walk with Stuart.   • ON SUNDAY, May 8 there will be a Family service at Coates at 9.30am at 11am there will be a Rogation Procession starting at St Osmund's Tarlton. Mattins will be said at Rodmarton at 11am.
