WATERMOOR C of E Primary School has been praised by Ofsted for its rapid improvements and has been judged as ‘good’.

During the inspection on March 16 and 17, lead inspector Julie Jane recognised that "the behaviour of pupils is good", "the teaching of tolerance and respect is exemplary" and "successful learning is the norm".

In the school's last inspection, the school was judged as 'requiring improvement'.

The strengths of the school were highlighted as the early years provision (including the recently opened pre-school), the motivating curriculum, pupils’ achievements, leadership and management, and the work of teaching assistants.

The Ofsted report also noted that the school effectively supported pupils who need additional help.

Ms Jane said: "parents are right to be pleased with the quality of education in the school".

Headteacher Jo Pearce said: "I am very proud of Watermoor and I’m delighted that we have an Ofsted report that reflects the wonderful work of the school and the community.

"During the inspection, the pupils stole the show and their behaviour, attitudes to learning and respect for others – quite rightly – impressed the inspector.

"The staff, governors and families work extremely hard for the school and I would like to take this opportunity to thank those who have helped us, and continue to do so.

"We are excited about the next chapter of the school and strive for even more success in the future.'

Alison Pine, chair of governors, said the governing body were elated.

She said that the report reflected the way that staff, governors and the families work together to ensure that all pupils feel safe, enjoy their lessons and can reach their full potential.

The school recently moved to a new location with a purpose-built building.

The building was mentioned in the report as being a contributing factor to the good pupil safety and early years provision.
