  • THE polling station for the election of the Commissioner for Police and Crime in Gloucestershire will be in the village hall next Thursday, May 5. Because of this the Gardening Club meeting will be held in the United Church in Clarks Hay.
  • THE Parish Council has had the entrance to the car park at the Upper Up playing field resurfaced in the past week. This gives smoother access to the facilities.
  • CERNEY Lakes Tennis Club, situated at Upper Up playing fields, is starting an eight-week series of junior group training sessions at their courts on Wednesday, May 4. These will be for children of junior school age group starting at 3.30 to 4.15pm with Years 1 and 2; 4.15 to 5pm Years 3, 4 and 5; 5pm to 6pm Year 6. LTA Certified coach Tom Barnes will be in charge but pre-booking is required by calling Jane Franklin 07980 583626 or janefranklin@onetel.com 
  • PILATES will be starting again in the village hall on Monday, May 16 and Wednesday, May 18, from 9.30am to 10.30am both days. If there are sufficient clients pre booking there will be a new eight week New Back Care course including Flexion Free for osteoporosis suffers. That starts on Wednesday, May 18 from 10.45 to 11.45am. For more information and to book spaces call Carole Gardiner 07528 703675. 
  • THE weekly T'ai Chi session that take place in the Hall on Wednesday afternoon will not be held next week.
  • A GARAGE sale and garden party is being held at Brook House in School Lane on Monday, May 2 from 3pm to 5pm to raise funds for the Cirencester Baptist Church building fund. Everyone welcome. 
  • THE village hall has had a new security locking system fitted which means that users will no longer have to collect and return keys from the booking officer. All Regular users have been informed of the change and those who have already used the system have expressed their satisfaction with it.
  • SINGING for Fun members took part in a four-hour singing workshop in the Hall last Saturday to improve their technique and to learn new ways of hitting the high notes. The group are is performing in three separate concerts later this year with and preparing an eclectic selection of music.
  • SOUTH Cerney Players are seeking an old-style 1930s or 40s valve radio set to use as a prop in their forthcoming production. Does not need to be in working condition but does need to have a glass front big enough for the audience to see. If you can help, please call Mark Sweet on 07973 229290 or 01285 860315.

  • ST PETER'S Church is holding a Gift Day on Saturday, April 30 and will be open from 10am to 4pm so that residents can drop in for refreshments and make a donation towards the upkeep of the church. It's also a good opportunity to explore this beautiful and historic building. The church is part of the significant moments of many lives but it needs support from the community if it's to survive for future generations of Siddington residents, so please come along to the Gift Day if you can. 
  • SIDDINGTON Sports FC is holding a race night at the village hall, with doors opening at 7pm for an 8pm start. Entry is £5 for adults, £10 for a family (two adults and two children), £2.50 for children aged 10 to 16 and entry for children under 10 is free. Tickets are available from The Greyhound or call Martin on 07880 757 474.
  • RESIDENTS will have spotted the 'yarn bombing' of the trees at the junction of Pound Close and Park Way that appeared on Saturday, April 23. The colourful pompoms and knitted or crocheted bunting has been produced by the Siddington with Preston WI group as part of a nationwide initiative to mark the Queen's 90th birthday. 
  • DON'T forget that the village hall will be open between from 7am to 10pm on, Thursday, May 5, for the Gloucestershire police and crime commissioner (PCC) election.
