  • THANKS to funding from Wiltshire Council, a new youth club for senior teens is being planned for a trial period of six weeks, in the village hall. To find out more and to see if you can help, Youth Club is hosting a get-together at The Wheatsheaf, 7.30pm on Tuesday, with refreshments included.   • TONIGHT, Thursday, please gather at The Tavern, Kemble, when you can take along your spare change to cover the Crown (heads-up) and buy some raffle tickets all to support the Royal parade, tea and presentation of souvenir mugs and coins to children 0-11years taking place on Sunday, May 15. A bonfire beacon will be lit tonight in the field opposite the pub at 8.30pm when we can sing 90th birthday greetings to Her Majesty the Queen. Hot food and drinks will be available to buy at the pub. Poole Keynes will be holding an event from 7pm with bring and share puddings followed by a lighting of a beacon with children’s fancy dress, toasts to the Queen and cake.
  • POOLE Keynes Friday Club will be presenting Spectre tomorrow, Friday, in the village hall. Doors open 7.15pm for refreshments with the film commencing at 7.45pm.
  • KEMBLE and Ewen parish council will be meeting in Kemble Village Hall tomorrow, Friday, at 7.30pm. As always, members of the public are welcome to attend meetings and whilste they may not speak during the actual meeting if they have a particular area of concern, a short time can be given for discussion generally prior to the meeting.
  • ON SATURDAY, morning Kemble Church will be having a spring-clean morning from 10am. More the merrier to come along and help.
  • A ST GEORGE'S Day service will be held on Saturday in Gloucester Cathedral at 7.30pm, organised each year by the County committee of The Royal Order of St. George. Red Roses are sold for the charity in the porch before the event and around the county during the day. The Kemble and District Royal British Legion standard bearer will be on parade with many other standards from other organisations and branches and the public are invited to attend this service.
  • CHURCH services for this Sunday are taking place in Kemble, morning prayer (CW) and in Poole Keynes, Holy Communion both at 9.30am. In Somerford Keynes at 11am Holy Communion will be held. On Sunday afternoon in Leighterton Cemetery near Tetbury, Royal British Legion standard bearers and other organisation will be on parade for the Anzac day service forming up at 2.15pm at the school for the parade with the service commencing at 3pm. Observers very welcome. At 6pm in Kemble church, The Source is held. All are welcome to take part with music, testimony, speaking and praying. Bookings are being taken for a women’s breakfast on Saturday, May 7 at 8.30am in Kemble village hall. Tickets £10 including breakfast to hear the guest speaker Amy Boucher Pye. She is an American who has made her home in Britain for nearly 20 years.   • SOMERFORD Keynes history group meet on Monday in Somerford Keynes village hall, doors open at 7pm for browsing with a 7.30pm start. A DVD will be shown of a lovely walk around the village and then a screening of some best village photographs. Entry, £2, to include a glass of wine. Further details from Judy Monger 01285 861292.
