  • THIS Saturday is national libraries day and the start of the exhibition of the up-cycle books competition including the winners. If last year’s event was anything to go by, this really will be an enjoyable and thought provoking exhibition so please do come along.

The library would like to thank Tetbury Tesco and Tetbury Co-op for donating prizes.

The Tetbury Feoffes has donated a lovely new comfy sofa to Tetbury Library.

Next month the library will be 50-years-old and there will be special events.

If you have any ideas on how to celebrate this or even if you are one of the early users than do pop in and have a chat with any of the friendly library staff – Kylie, Linda, Liz and Sophie.

  • ON SATURDAY there will be a Saturday morning prayer in St Mary’s Church from 10-11.30am followed by refreshments.
  • THE next official police point open meeting/surgery will be Tuesday, February 9, at the Tetbury Town Council offices, the Old Courthouse, 63 Long Street. There will be a local friendly officer available for you to have a chat with on any matter that may be causing you concern.
  • THE Lent observance begins with the Ash Wednesday service beginning at 7pm on Wednesday, February 10, at St Mary’s Church. Lent continues until Saturday, March 26.

This year there will be a series of Lent groups that will be meeting in various homes in Avening, Shipton Moyne and Tetbury.

The evening group sessions will start on Monday, February 15, from 7-8.30pm in Avening, Shipton Moyne and Tetbury.

For five weeks these will continue looking at various themes. There will be further house groups for five weeks but on different days just in Tetbury on the Tuesday, February 16, at 7-8.30pm.

A Wednesday morning house group session will be in the vicarage from Wednesday, February 17, from 10.15- 11.45am and there will be a Thursday evening house group starting Thursday, February 18, from 7-8.30pm.

For further information please pop into St Mary’s Church and put your name down on the sign-up sheet in the church or contact the parish office direct, Diana Sharp on 01666 500088 or email office@tetburychurch.co.uk

  • ON SUNDAY, February 14, there will be a car boot sale in aid of the Tetbury rail lands project, at the Tetbury Goods Shed, off Cirencester Road by the Royal Oak public house from 9am-noon.
