THE magic of movies will be brought to Cirencester in 2017.

In November 2014 Cirencester developer Wildmoor Properties were given permission to build a four screen cinema restaurants, shops and student accommodation at Brewery Court in Cirencester.

Since then there has been no word on when work will start on the project which is expected to cost £48 million.

Now, the developer has now revealed that the project, which will include restaurants, shops and student accommodation, is currently undergoing a “design and construction review” and will be complete by summer 2017.

Managing director of Wildmoor Properties, Mark Booth said: “Wildmoor and Everyman fully recognise the benefits the scheme will bring to the town and are determined to make the vision a reality. The team remain committed to bringing the scheme to fruition and continue to focus on addressing all issues that require to be dealt with ahead of works commencing on site.

Mr Booth said that as with any major town centre development the Brewery Court raises "complex issues" that require careful pre-planning.

He added: “it is expected to take 12 months to complete the shell of the building, before individual businesses commence fitting out their premises.”

The project will create  150 new jobs, 50 of which will be full-time.

The cinema will be run by independent boutique cinema operators Everyman and will have a total of 387 seats.

It will also include three larger screen rooms that will accommodate more than 100 people, and a fourth screen room with 36 seats available for private hire.
