THE POST Office is hoping to re-open its Ashton Keynes branch at the local village hall twice a week as a hosted outreach service, with a visiting postmaster.

The plan would involve the postmaster from Shrivenham visiting Ashton Keynes Village Hall on Tuesdays from 9.30am – 12.30pm and Thursday from 2.30 – 4.30pm.

The village’s original branch in Fore Street closed temporarily in October 2014 due to the postmaster resigning and the premises were withdrawn for Post Office use.

However, the organisation are now in a position to restore the same range of services to customers in the area from a different premises, with the addition of a full travel money service.

Leighton Barratt, field change advisor, said: “We understand the importance of having post offices in Ashton Keynes. The hosted outreach services present the best possible solution in these areas.”

The Post Office is now inviting customers and interested parties to give their comments on the move in a six week public consultation, to close on January 22.

Post Office Ltd welcomes feedback on any issues customers would like considered before a final decision is taken on this proposal.

Submissions can be made during the consultation by Freepost YOUR COMMENTS to Post Office Ltd, via email to comments@postoffice.co.uk, via the Customer Helpline on 03457 22 33 44 or Textphone 03457 22 33 55.
