A SEVERE weather warning is in place as the Cotswolds weathers Storm Clodagh.

Gusts of 60mph are expected to ravage the area as Britain suffers its third large storm in a month.

The severe weather warning has been in place since 11am on Sunday and will continue until at least 6pm tonight.

The Met Office predicts high southwesterly winds will gales coursing across Wales and much of southern and central England.

They have also warned of localised disruption to travel.

As Storm Clodagh moved in, flight were diverted and traffic held up on motorways.

Met office chief forecaster said: “A further depression will move quickly east across the UK on Monday, crossing northern England in the afternoon. A swathe of gales is expected to the south of the depression's track.

“Although wind strengths will probably be slightly less than Sunday's system there is still the possibility of some localised low level impacts.

“There remains some uncertainty regarding the northern limit of the gales and this warning will therefore be kept under review.”
