A charity Christmas Day lunch organiser in Cirencester is “very pleased” with the response from volunteers.

DISC (Disability Information and Support in the Cotswolds) is holding its annual free lunch for low income families, the lonely, elderly, disabled and homeless at Bingham Hall and was looking for volunteers to help out.

Dee DrInan, who organised the lunch and founded the organisation which offers help with the filling in of forms for disabled people as well as other support, said: “The response from volunteers has been absolutely brilliant.

“We’ve certainly got the amount we need, so I’m very pleased.

“On December 23 all the turkeys, gamon and vegetables are to be delivered at the crack of dawn, and then everything else is to be delivered from Waitrose at 11am.

“I’ll take it all down to Bingham Hall to begin the prepping of the vegetables.”

She added: “I’ll be cooking the turkeys myself on the day, along with the help of a very enthusiastic team of helpers, and then it’ll just be a case of waiting for the people to stream in for their Christmas lunch.”

Dee said it’s just a case now of getting the word out there for as many people as possible to come for their free lunch.
