X FACTOR contestant Hannah Marie Kilminster wowed shoppers at a Christmas themed charity evening at Dobbies Home and Garden Centre in Cirencester  on Thursday .

Hannah Marie, who grew up in North Cerney and has reached the Six Chair Challenge stage of X factor, performed a variety of covers including O mio babbino caro, which is taken from the opera Gianni Schicchi and Raise me Up by the Secret Garden.

Cash raised from the event will be given to the Teenage Cancer Trust which give care and support for young people aged 13 to 24 that have been diagnosed with cancer.

Hannah Marie’s friends and family were among those captivated by her performance and the former Cirencester Kingshill Student said she enjoyed performing in front of her loved ones.

Hannah Marie, 30, said: “My mum is here to watch and she didn’t go to my first audition at Wembley Arena. It is quite special to have the people you love watching you.

“It is an amazing feeling to be actually able to give back and come and help and support a charity that is as amazing as this.”

In between songs Hannah Marie spoke to the crowd and signed autographs.

Mark Slater and his young daughter Olivia were one of those in the audience.

Mark who is the assistant manager of the Aldi supermarket in Cirencester explained that he surprised Olivia who is a big fan of Hannah Marie by bringing her to watch the performance.

“She loves the X Factor and she thinks she is very good. Olivia is a very big fan.”

Fundraising at the event was Stroud woman, Judith Vines, whose son Neil died earlier this year after a battling cancer for nearly three years.

During his long fight with the disease he set himself a number of tough physical challenges to raise money for the Teenage Cancer Trust, raising a total of £5,500.

The evening also included live demonstrations including ‘How to decorate your Christmas tree’ and ‘How to make a wreath’ and food tasters.

Dale Lewis, manager of the store, said that he thought the event had been a great success.

“We have sold over 1000 tickets which is great because all ticket sales go to the Teenage Cancer Trust,” he said “I just think the singing has been brilliant and I hope she will get far (in X Factor) if she doesn’t I am sure someone else will take her on.”

Hannah Marie features on the X Factor Six Chair challenge which will be aired by ITV on Sunday at 7pm.
