A BURGLARY in Tetbury caused a family “huge distress” after items of sentimental value were taken from their home.

Police are appealing for information following the burglary in Kingscote, Tetbury, at around midday on October 1.

The burglar, or burglars, stole silver and jewellery that had real intrinsic value to the family. Police believe that a pillowcase taken from a bedroom was used to carry the items away.

A witness passing by at the time heard the alarm and saw a man walking away from the location with what was thought to be a white carrier bag in his hand.

This male is described as white, about 35 years old and around 5ft 8ins tall. He was wearing a dark jacket with a red logo, a woolly hat and blue gloves.

A police spokesman said: “It is believed this man may have driven off in a silver ‘Japanese style’ 4x4 vehicle, similar to a Mitsubishi Shogun, which was seen in the area and was missing its front grille.

"Both the vehicle and the suspect are distinctive, given the missing grille and the fact it was a hot day and a person wearing hat and gloves would stand out.

“The burglary has caused huge distress to the family as items of sentimental value have been taken and cannot be replaced.

“Police are appealing for any witnesses who may have seen the offender/s or the vehicle, or have any information about the incident to please call 101 quoting incident number 176 of October 1, 2015.”
