A FAIRFORD farmer appeared on BBC's Countryfile last Sunday evening to discuss her cattle with presenter Adam Henson.

Dexter cattle breeder Liz Stephen was interviewed by the owner of Cotswold Farm Park who was there to pick up a number of cows that co-host Ellie Harrison had bought from her.

Ellie decided to buy the Dexter cattle because she wanted them to graze on land at her Gloucestershire home which had become overgrown.

During the episode, Liz also told Adam that numbers of the animals have increased dramatically since the 1980s when they were classed as a rare breed.

“The mechanics of the filming was interesting. It was nice to meet Adam; he was great,” said Liz who is also lead science technician at Farmor's School in Fairford.

Ellie contacted Liz about buying the animals following the news that they had tested negative for Tuberculosis, which had affected some cattle in the area, preventing them from being sold.

Meanwhile, Adam Henson will be turning on the Christmas lights in Bourton-on-the-Water on Friday, December 4.
