A BRAZEN intruder is being sought by police in Cricklade after a man entered the private areas of a pub in broad daylight and kicked a door in.

The offender left empty-handed from The Vale, High Street, after being challenged by a member of staff who heard the noise of the door being broken in at 4pm on Saturday afternoon.

The man, aged around 25, and believed to have an eastern European accent, was captured by CCTV cameras in High Street and in the pub.

On entering he walked up two flights of stairs and then kicked open a locked door which led to a staff members room.

The bar was open at the time and there were customers in the premises, but the remainder of the hotel was closed due to refurbishment work being undertaken.

A member of staff downstairs heard the noise and went to investigate before challenging the intruder who said he was looking for the decorator before fleeing the scene.

Nothing was taken but damage was caused to the outer door.

The offender is described as white but tanned complexion, slim build, short, dark wavy hair, wearing a dark blue hooded top, black trainers and dark blue jeans.

Police have discovered similar offences have been reported in the Gloucester and Tetbury areas.

Anyone with any information is asked to contact Constable Lizzie Legg at Cricklade Police Station on 0845 408 7000.
