TRADESMEN have begun work to turn an antique shop into a French restaurant.

Planning was approved to turn the shop previously owned by Hares Antiques in Black Jack Street, Cirencester, into a Côte Brasserie.

A spokesman for Côte said they did not want to comment on the construction work and would not commit to an opening date.

However, sources suggest the restaurant will open in Spring 2016.

Planning was passed on July 30 to allow the shop to revamp its front and add a hanging sign which reads “Côte Brasserie”.

A separate application, launched by the same company, Pan Albion LLP, got approval from Cotswold District Council to demolish outbuildings at the back of the shop to build seven houses.

The two and three-storey houses will be accessed via Gosditch Street.

The restaurant has chains across Britain, serving French cuisine with main meals from £10.
