A VARIETY of Cirencester’s iconic locations will be opened up to give people can get an insight into the town’s past later this month.

As part of Cirencester Civic Society’s Heritage Open Days, which are running between September 11 and 13, the gates to The Mansion on Park Street will be open so people can take a look inside.

Those attending the events can have a look at the only surviving large scale air raid shelter in the UK, Querns Hospital, a former 19th century house, the South Porch and the Tower at the Parish Church and much more.

To open the events, there will be a talk on Friday 11 September at the Baptist Church in Coxwell Street, where Nicholas Arbuthnott will be asking if heritage and sustainable development are compatible.
