A QUEDGELEY motorcyclist was seriously injured in a road  road traffic collision that happened at 8.46am yesterday (Saturday 29th August), on the A38 at Whitminster, between the junctions for Green Lane and Hyde Lane.

The collision involved a multi-coloured KTM RC 8 Motorcycle, which was travelling southbound and a beige Skoda Fabia motorcar, that was emerging from a premises on the nearside of the road.

As a result of the collision the motorcyclist – a 25 year old man from Quedgeley, sustained severe injuries, he was treated at the scene, prior to being airlifted to Southmead Hospital in Bristol, where he is undergoing emergency surgery for life-threatening injuries.

The Skoda driver – a 50 year old woman from Tuffley, was taken to Gloucester Royal Hospital with wrist and pelvic injuries which are not considered life threatening.

Her  her husband, who was a passenger was shaken but un-injured. There was a brief fire immediately after the collision, which was apparently caused by the motorcycle petrol tank igniting, however this was quickly tackled by members of the public with fire extinguishers.

The road at the scene remains closed whilst officers from the Tri-Force Specialist Operations Collaboration conduct a detailed investigation.

Police are appealing for any witnesses who have not already been in contact, or any road users who may have ‘on-board’ camera footage relevant to the collision, or the moments leading up to it, to get in touch by calling 101 and quoting incident Number 118 of 29 August.
