THIRTEEN fire-fighters and two air ambulances were called to the scene of an accident near Stow-on-the-Wold after a three vehicle crash.

At around 5.30pm yesterday, emergency services were scrambled to a three-vehicle collision on a crossroads on the Lower Swell to Guiting Power road at Chalk Hill.  

Fire crews from Stow and Moreton-in-Marsh stations arrived at the scene to find three people trapped in their cars.

The cars involved were a silver Ford Focus driven by a 59-year-old man from Bristol, a grey Nissan Qashqai driven by a 60-year-old local man and a silver Vauxhall Vivaro driven by a 44-year-old man from Worcestershire.

Gloucestershire Police and South West ambulance were at the scene with two air ambulances.

A 52-year-old female passenger in the Ford Focus was airlifted to John Radcliffe Hospital in Oxford and the driver of the Nissan Qashqai to Southmead Hospital in Bristol.

A third was taken to hospital by ambulance and a fourth was examined at the scene but found to have no injuries.

The B4068 towards Temple Guiting and Naunton was closed and road blocks put in place on the B4077 at Lower Slaughter. All roads are now open and clear.

Police are appealing for witnesses or anyone with further information to call 101 quoting incident number 325 of August 27.
