VOLUNTEERS raised £10,000 for vital new equipment for Tetbury Hospital .

The hospital off the Malmesbury Road depends on fundraising and the generosity of local people to keep providing expert care.

In a big fundraising push, volunteers raised £9,000 by knocking on thousands of doors and the taxman will add an extra £1,000 in the form of Gift Aid.

Money raised will pay for a range of clinical gadgets for keyhole surgery and a phototherapy booth so patients with skin conditions do not have to leave Tetbury to be treated.

John McGrath, chairman of The Friends of Tetbury Hospital, said: “We are delighted with this result and thank all who donated in Tetbury and surrounding villages for their generosity.

“Also, a huge thank you to the volunteers who tramped the streets knocking on doors.

“The support of the town and surrounding villages is hugely appreciated and vital, enabling the hospital to provide the very best range of services supported by modern medical equipment.”
