ONE hundred tickets for the inauguration of the next Bishop of Gloucester are being made available for members of the public.
Rachel Treweek will begin her role in the Diocese of Gloucester on Saturday , September 19 with a special service at Gloucester Cathedral at 4.30pm.
Already almost 1,000 people have been invited to the service, including senior clergy and civic leaders from across Gloucestershire and beyond.
But seating for 100 people is being kept aside to give people in the wider community a chance to attend and witness this historic event close up.
During the service Bishop Rachel will be presented with her pastoral staff and will be placed in her cathedra (or bishop’s chair) by the Archdeacon of Canterbury, the Venerable Sheila Watson, on behalf of the Archbishop of Canterbury. Rachel will also preach her first sermon in Gloucester as the bishop.
Tickets for the service are being made available on a first come, first served basis. Anyone interested in being part of the day should email Di Best on dbest@glosdioc.org.uk by Friday 28 August.
