EARLIER this summer, a project by the Park Community Group (PCG) made improvements to the entrance to the River Walk and the open air swimming pool in Cirencester.

The Community Payback team from the PCG and gardeners from Deer Park School worked hard to clear the area and plant attractively as part of the enhancement of the walkway.

The Phoenix Gardeners in the town suggested plants to be planted in the walkway and they were then donated by Cirencester Deer Park School and Cirencester Town Council.

Other improvements to the Riverside Walk facilitated by the PCG include the sowing of a bee-friendly wild flower border by Gloucestershire Wildlife Trust to replace the stinging nettles near Barton Mill and repainting of the bridge.

PCG meets monthly and works with other organisations to enhance the centre of Cirencester for residents and visitors alike.

The next meeting of the Park Community Group, on Wednesday, August 19 at 6pm.

At the informal meeting group, members will be weeding the new garden area and generally tidying along the Thomas St to Barton Lane section of Riverside Walk by the open air swimming pool.

Those who would like to take part in the meeting and meet some of the group should bring some gardening tools with them.
