JORDAN WEAVING enjoyed a strong weekend at Thruxton as he finished eighth in the National Superstock 600 series.

The reigning British Moto3 Motostar champion had his first experience of the Norfolk circuit aboard his Russo Racing Kawasaki and was able to battle for a top-ten position following a difficult weekend at Brands Hatch last time out.

Jordan qualified in 11th position, just over a second behind pole position man Bradley Ray, but was fighting for a top-ten position early on in the race.

The 18-year-old crossed the line in eighth position and will now be able to build on solid results as he begins to feel more comfortable on his Superstock 600. Weaving, who attended Deer Park School, now sits 11th in the championship standings.

Hullavington’s Fraser Rogers had another disappointing weekend in the National Superstock 600 class.

Qualifying in eighth position on the grid, Rogers was beginning to make strong steps on his MV Augusta when an engine failure forced him to retire.

Rogers, who refuses to feel downbeat after his Tsingtao Hampshire MV Augusta let him down, said: “That was not what I wanted today. I felt good until the engine let go, I thought I had a good enough pace to be up there but hey ho.”

His retirement means he scored no points leaving him in the bottom half of the championship standings.
