THE great-granddaughter of the girl Alice in Wonderland was based on read extracts from her new book to a sell-out crowd in Tetbury.
Vanessa Tait, born and bred in Long Newnton just outside Tetbury, read extracts from her new novel The Looking Glass House which brings alive the story of the relationship between Alice, Lewis Carroll (the author of the original Alice in Wonderland) and Mary Prickett, Alice’s jealous governess.
The book is already in the Independent Bookseller’s top 50 nationally and has only been outsold by Harper Lee’s Go Set a Watchman at Yellow-Lighted Bookshop in Church Street, Tetbury.
The event in Tetbury Market House is the only local event Vanessa performed at to promote her new book.
This year will mark 150 years since Lewis Carroll wrote Alice's Adventures in Wonderland.
