OFSTED inspectors gave a Cirencester nursery a glowing Ofsted report, rating it “outstanding” in all areas.

Inspectors said Mrs Berry’s Montessori Nursery in Cirencester had a “rich and stimulating environment” and said its “inspirational initiatives are very successful in engaging parents in children’s learning”.

The nursery in Berry Hill Road has around 40 children on its role and prides itself on giving children practical skills they can take on to primary school.

Children are taught to lay the table before dinner and wash up after, to cook and to clean and other necessary things they will need later in life.

The report praised the “effectiveness of the management” and the nursery’s staff, saying their “level of teaching is inspirational”.

The inspector wrote: “Staff have an excellent understanding of the learning and development requirements.

"Children engage in an exceptional range of interesting and stimulating activities, which meet their individual needs and interests. This contributes to their excellent progress and readiness for school.”

Owner Diane Berry puts the success of the nursery down to their low staff to children ratio. Usually there is one staff member to every four children.

She said: “We are absolutely delighted with the report.

“In our last inspection we had outstanding in most categories but a “good” rating overall which they later said was a mistake.

“The inspector told us that she’d like to come here – which is quite an accolade.

“Mostly I’m happy for our staff who work so hard for the children.”

Mrs Berry’s Montessori Nursery takes children from two until school age.
