CRICKLADE event rider Julia Longarini has recorded her first win in the UK since moving to Britain from Brazil.
Julia partnered her horse Lander van het Heekse to finish top of the prestigious Burghley Young Event Horse (BYEH) four-year-old qualifier at Chepstow racecourse on Friday.
The pair are now qualified for the BYEH Final, which is held at the Land Rover Burghley Horse Trials in September when they will face top young event horses from around the country.
Julia and husband Sam Dempsey, an Irish international eventer, have run their own yard, D&L Performance Horses, at Water Eaton, Cricklade since last year.
Julia has trained Lander herself since he was purchased in 2014 and the care is clearly paying off as he took first place over five sections: dressage, jumping, confirmation, type and star potential.
Julia and Sam have already expanded their team from five horses to 15, competing at all levels up to international three-star class.
It is a truly international operation, with horses from Belgium, the Netherlands, Ireland, America, as well as the UK.
