A MAN who died in a glider crash at Aston Down airfield took his own life, an inquest has heard.
A hearing in Gloucester heard that Michael Hugh England, a member of Cotswold Gliding Club, had left a suicide letter before the crash on Sunday, June 14.
Mr England, 57, circled the airfield between Chalford and Minchinhampton several times before taking a steep dive to the ground.
The inquest heard that he died of multiple injuries at the scene.
Police found the suicide note at Mr England's home in School Road, Cheltenham.
The inquest was adjourned until November.
